Group Embracing Together

Living With Loss

I am so glad you found us, and I am so very sorry for your loss. I would be glad to have you part of our upcoming Grief Support Group, please read below for more information and to submit your application.

NEXT GROUP: May 20 - June 24, 2026

Why group therapy? Grief group therapy offers a unique quality of support and connection that comes from being with other people who are also walking through grief. Therapeutic group therapy provides emotional support, validation and education about grief. Peer support through group therapy has been shown to reduce grief symptoms and increase wellbeing and personal growth among grief survivors. In group therapy, members can be agents of change for one another. Seeing and helping in others' progress can help you feel empowered in your own healing

What can I expect? We meet together for 6 weeks. Our grief group will be a discussion based group. Essentially that means that discussion amongst members about their own grief journey, or reflections on others shared journeys will be the primary focus of our time together. Our group is kept small, with a maximum of 4-5 people per group. We want this to be a place where each member commits to being invoveld so that trust can be established and built.

Where, how & when? Each group session is held at Stonewall Counselling Center (405 3rd Ave South in Stonewall, MB). Our next session is beginning on May 20 to June 24, 2026. These group sessions will run for 1 hour starting from 5:30-6:30 PM. The cost per session is $95 {$570+GST} and is to be paid in full by May 1st. A $50 non-refundable deposit must be transferred upon booking. Therapeutic groups are sometimes covered by insurance companies - you can look into your coverage to see if this is an option.

Who will be leading? This grief group will be lead by our Registered Therapeutic Counsellor, Erica Hildebrand, and you are welcome to reach out to her privately via email or using the button below to apply. Erica has extensive experience working with therapeutic groups, and enjoys bringing her warmth and expertise in connecting with individuals to these groups. In her private practice, she also supports individuals who are grieving, approaching this work in a trauma-informed and person-centred way.

What you will get out of this?

Grief can feel incredibly lonely - even when you’re surrounded by people. This group is meant to be a gentle, safe place where you don’t have to explain yourself or hold it all together. You’ll be among others who understand grief in a very real way.

In this space, Erica's hope for you is that you will:

  1. Feel free to share your own grief story and discover what healing might look like for you

  2. Have space to sit with the pain of loss - supported both individually and within the group

  3. Begin finding your way in life after loss, while still honouring who you have lost

  4. Learn how to carry grief alongside others, instead of carrying it alone

Who will participate? This group has been created to accommodate members of ages 21+ and with people of all backgrounds who are currently walking through grief. This group will be kept small to foster intimacy and empathy from all members. This group is not an alternative to individual therapy. It is not required for participants to have had individual therapy before attending group, however, it is a benefit to have had some individual work. Prior to the first session, all members are required to sign a consent form.

Is this covered by Insurance?  Great question! If you have coverage for counselling services it is very likely that you will be reimbursed by your insurance company. Looking into this before applying is always a good idea! Erica's services are covered by most insurance companies.
